This is the first time that a seismic concept, able to successfully detect an intruder without the need for line-of-sight, has been introduced to contend with a legacy system which has been known for the past 50 years.
Currently all legacy seismic acoustic security systems are based on an array of Omni-directional off-the-shelf transducers such as geophones, microphones, accelerometers, etc. These unsuitable components are mainly drawn from the underground stratum segment (used for mapping of oil, natural gas, water, etc.) and combined with strong algorithm modules. Alternatively, current systems try to rely solely on radar, optical and thermal imaging cameras. This "inbreeding" negatively impacts system performance – especially regarding False Alarm Rates (FAR).
SpiderTech offers a new approach. Instead of patching and adapting off-the-shelf hardware and software components. it provides advanced capabilities with a substantial advantage over other detection technologies and offers the following features and benefits:
The Patented SpiderTech Sensor (STS) allows for the first time, the provision of multi-axial measurement from a single point to facilitate a high probability of detection with a low FAR. The sensor's core includes three pairs of transducers: one pair for each axis. The STS has 3D capabilities that can detect the propagation of vibration waves (vectors) in solid elements.
The STS contains the patented transducer module, analogue electronics, digital processing electronics (DSP) and communications drive
